Q. Are there living accommodations?
A. Although the island is only accessible by boat, it is not that long of a trip. In fact only 15-20 mins. from the most remote end. The island is partially within the city boundaries of Southport,
NC which has many homes for sale and homes and apartments for rent. We do not provide housing for staff as this is a "day job".
Q.What and where are they located?
A. See above. Note the beautiful, historic city of Wilmington, NC is just across the Cape Fear river from Southport and offers much in the way of accommodations.
Q.What does (+/-) 100K annually mean?
A. As listed on most of the job sites, the compensation is at minimum $75,000 per year. The compensation could cap at $100,000 or higher depending on the value to our membership (ie.
investors/owners) brought by the holder of this position. The listed duties are extremely important to the project as is the commercial value of the spokesperson attributes of this position. The
actual compensation amount $75k-$100k is decided by the membership and not negotiable as the pay is very generous for the economy of this region.
Q. If you want serious "science" to be done, why are you making the selection of the "director" dependant on producing a video? The Aussie island thing was a crass business PR stunt.
A. The "science" aspect of the job duties entails merely careful observation of the local environment, the ability to count and make time and dated notations in a log, identifying the flora and
fauna from materials provided and setting up our initial surf fishing table and schedule simply by actively fishing (catch/release), and logging in what was caught, how many, when, where. This
data over time will constitute our charts,tables and schedules. As for the video this is the best way for us (including our investors and owners) to judge the enthusiasm, likability and disposition
of the candidates on video, as this will be the format that will be seen by the public.
This position is not a simple PR stunt as much as a real full time job. Having the blog published provides current information to our investors, owners and guests.
Having a hands on person, on site daily provides an important liaison contact during our development stage.
The collection of data is significant as there have not been any permanent residents on the island since the 1800's and no data records exist.

include online press releases.

A. The position begins within 1 week of the “date of hire”.
Q. Any reason why there is no contact information anywhere on your “dream job” listing?
A. Contact information was entered at all jobs listing websites.
